As a Financial Management and Comptroller specialist in the 6F0X1 career field, you will play a vital role in managing and executing financial processes and operations for the United States Air Force. Your responsibilities will include budgeting, accounting, financial analysis, and resource management. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, financial expertise, and a thorough understanding of financial management principles and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Budget Planning and Execution: Assist in the development, formulation, and execution of budgets for Air Force units and programs. Collaborate with program managers and stakeholders to analyze funding requirements, forecast costs, and allocate resources. Monitor budget execution, analyze variances, and provide recommendations to ensure effective financial management.
2. Financial Accounting and Reporting: Maintain accurate financial records and accounts. Perform accounting functions, including recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial statements. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards. Generate financial reports and provide analysis to support decision-making and budgetary control.
3. Financial Analysis and Resource Management: Conduct financial analysis and assessments to evaluate the financial performance of programs and activities. Provide recommendations for cost-saving initiatives, resource optimization, and process improvements. Assist in the development of financial forecasts, business cases, and investment justifications.
4. Audit and Compliance: Support audit readiness and compliance with financial regulations and policies. Prepare financial documentation and reports for internal and external audits. Collaborate with auditors to address findings and implement corrective actions. Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial management best practices.
5. Financial Systems and Tools: Utilize financial management systems and software to perform financial functions and generate reports. Maintain proficiency in financial management tools and stay updated on emerging technologies and practices. Provide training and guidance to personnel on financial systems and processes.
Qualifications:
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a secret security clearance.
- Successful completion of Basic Military Training and the Financial Management and Comptroller Apprentice Course.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in financial management principles and practices.
- Knowledge of federal financial regulations and policies.
- Familiarity with financial management systems and tools.
